Abstract

A symposium entitled ‘Modeling spatial and temporal variability as a function of scale’ was held on November 5, 1996 at the annual meetings of the American Society of Agronomy and the Soil Science Society of America in Indianapolis, USA. The conference focused on the integration of spatial and temporal components of variability, thereby addressing society’s need for scientific methods that provide solutions for economic and environmental problems associated with production ecology.
