Nd3+-doped polymer waveguide amplifiers and lasers

    Abstract

    In Nd-complex-doped fluorinated polymer channel waveguides, internal net gain of 2.0 dB/cm at 873 nm and 5.7 dB/cm at 1064 nm is demonstrated. Continuous-wave lasing near 1060 nm is obtained with a slope efficiency of 2.15% and 1 mW of output power. Lasing was also achieved at 878 nm.
