On the use of pre-defined implementation constructs in distributed systems design

    Abstract

    This paper introduces the concept of pre-defined implementation constructs (PDICs) as a method for distributed systems design. It discusses how PDICs should be selected and used, and shows the applicability of this method on basis of a middle sized design example: the implementation of a sliding window protocol.
