Abstract

The invention relates to an apparatus for authenticating an optical key, wherein the optical key is characterized by a reliable authenticatability. The invention also relates to an apparatus for generating a random number from an optical key, wherein the random number is stable when or after the optical key is exposed to an external influence, in particular a physical or chemical stimulus such as a different ambient condition, mechanical stress or chemical contact.
