Proceedings of the European Workshop on Milestones, Models and Mappings for Model-Driven Architecture (3M4MDA)

This volume contains the proceedings of the European Workshop on Milestones, Models and Mappings for Model-Driven Architecture (3M4MDA) held on 11 July 2006 in Bilbao, Spain, in conjunction with the European Conference on Model Driven Architecture - Foundations and Applications (ECMDA-FA 2006). The 3M4MDA 2006 workshop aims at helping the convergence of the research and practical application, by focusing on the milestones in the model-driven development process, the models to be used, and mappings to be established between these models. Many issues have risen from the practical application of the model-driven approach, most notably those that relate to the purpose and the characteristics of the system under design and that translate to requirements on milestones, models and mappings to be applied in the model-driven development process. These issues should be taken into account in the next generation of model-driven methods and modelling techniques. There have been 14 paper submissions to this workshop, and 8 papers have been accepted for publication and oral presentations. All selected papers are of high quality, thanks to the professionalism of the authors, reviewers and program committee members. The papers in this volume are representative for the current research activities on the topics indicated by the title of the workshop, namely, milestones, models and mappings. These papers have been grouped around these topics in the three sessions of the workshop. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the people who have contributed to the 3M4MDA 2006 workshop. We wish to thank all authors and reviewers for their valuable contributions, and we wish them a successful continuation of their work in this area. Finally, we thank the organization of ECMDA-FA 2006 conference in which this workshop has been embedded.
