    One of the greatest problems facing luxury goods firms in a globalizing market is that of counterfeiting and the enforcement of intellectual property rights. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the factors involved in this problem and how in the luxury goods industries fashion is at once a mechanism to counteract counterfeiting and an encouragement to it.
