Abstract
We compare the following ways of extending families of languages (1) hyper-algebraic extension (based on context-free Lindenmayer rewriting), (2) algebraic extension (based on context-free Chomsky rewriting), (3) rational extension (cased on regular Chomsky rewriting), in order to discuss the corresponding types of AFL's.
