### Abstract

A relation between the finite zero structure of the plant and the standard $H_\infty$ controller was studied. The mechanism was also investigated using the ARE-based $H_\infty$ controller that is represented by a free parameter. It was observed that the mechanism of the controller reduction is related to the unstable zeros of an off-diagonal subsystem of the generalized plant.
