The results are described of the resection of the distal part of the ulna from 43 wrists involving 40 patients with rheumatoid arthritis. The most important indication for the operation was pain in the wrist joint. After the operation, pain was considerably reduced. Furthermore there was improved wrist mobility. There were no serious complications.
