Abstract

A brief history of London is given by focusing on changes on the spatial pattern regarding housing and transportation systems to analyse root causes of the current vulnerabilities to disasters. Then, the chapter proceeds by providing retrospective view of risk in London including both natural and man-made disasters to see the progress of disaster risk reduction system after each event in London.
