Abstract

Emery Roe’s most recent book, 'Making the Most of Mess', has much more to offer than the well-crafted alliteration in its title. It provides its readers with a refreshing answer to the challenges of public administration and the policy sciences as thepar excellencedisciplines, crafts and arts of dealing under time pressure with ‘messy’ problems of collective action through policy, organization and public management. I will summarize Roe’s book, while demonstrating its relevance with some examples.
