Abstract

The research focuses on understanding how digital transformation affects purchasing, supplier satisfaction, and operational excellence. Using empirical quantitative data from 119 suppliers in the chemical industry, it employs partial least squares structural equation modelling. Findings reveal relational behaviour and growth opportunities positively impact supplier satisfaction, while profitability and operational excellence do not significantly influence it. Although digital procurement practices enhance operational excellence, they do not directly affect supplier satisfaction. The study highlights the need for comprehensive supplier relationship management and encourages companies to embrace digital practices. While limited by sector-specific data and sample size, it pioneers updated models for supplier satisfaction and emphasised the significance of digitalisation in procurement.
