Abstract
The augmented Zagreb index (AZI index) is a degree-based molecular structure descriptor that can be used for modelling thermodynamic properties of organic chemical compounds. Motivated by its applicable potential, a series of investigations have been carried out in the past several years. In this paper, we present several sharp upper bounds on the AZI index of graphs with _xed parameters such as the independence number, edge-connectivity, chromatic number respectively, and characterize the corresponding extremal graphs.
