    Abstract

This thesis brings up new facts on the integration capability, photochemistry, and properties of the prototype devices based on the light emitting diode antifuse. The chapters are arranged with increasing level of sophistication. The fist chapter also reviews the current trends of the research on silicon light emitting devices. The last chapter extends the reach of the thesis to two new types of devices, which emit efficient near infrared photons.
