Abstract

This paper studies a single-phase five-level power factor correction bridgeless rectifier well-suited for applications targeting for high efficiency and/or high power density, such as on-board electric vehicle battery chargers. The characteristics of this rectifier topology, the circuit derivation, the principles of operation, suited PWM modulation strategy, feedback control scheme, and the main dimensioning equations are described in this paper. Finally, simulation results are used to verify the characteristics of the studied converter.
