Abstract

The intriguing opportunity to control the properties of matter via light is at the heart of cavity quantum electrodynamics (cQED). A famous example is the control of the radiative rate of an elementary quantum emitter [1, 2] like excited atoms, ions, molecules, 2D materials, or quantum dots. Such control is essential for applications ranging from miniature lasers and light-emitting diodes, to single-photon sources for quantum information, solar energy harvesting, to photocatalysis and photochemistry, and sensing [3, 4].
