Abstract
This article describes a study that evaluated implementation of curriculum materials for secondary social studies. The evaluation focused on the actual use of the materials by individual teachers in their classrooms. A large discrepancy emerged between the original intentions of the curriculum developers and the observed instructional processes. This result will be discussed against background information about the broader implementation context and the curriculum development approach that was followed.
