Abstract
This chapter starts with a description of the various ways in which computer-assisted school information systems (SISs) can support school staff. Subsequently, the results of a review of the research concerning the features of information handling at teacher and at school management level are presented. In addition, some characteristics of decision-making in schools are portrayed. Finally, conclusions are drawn regarding the impact of SISs, and the way in which system usage (especially decision-making support) can be increased.
