The influence of inhomogeneous rolling on the capacity of aluminium anode foil material

Several aluminium single crystals were cold rolled under different rolling conditions, characterized by the rolling parameter l/d. The resulting foil was subsequently electrochemically etched and anodized, and the electrical capacity was measured. Inhomogeneously rolled foils showed a higher capacity than did homogeneously rolled foils. This could be attributed to the development of layered structures in the case of inhomogeneous rolling; sharp orientation transitions in these layered structures in (123)<412> foil gave rise to a higher capacity than did gradual orientation changes in the other foils.
