Abstract
In real electromagnetic devices the non-oriented electrical steel is often subjected to various mechanical stresses.
These stresses affect the magnetic properties of the steel, such as the hysteresis losses and the magnetostriction. In this
paper, the mechanisms responsible for the variation of the magnetic properties are discussed. A relation between the
variation of the hysteresis losses and the magnetostriction under the applied mechanical stress is established. An
experimental confirmation is proposed.
