Abstract

A seminar on future developments in 3D GIS, organized by the mineral exploration and engineering geology sections of ITC' s Earth resource surveys department, was held in Delft on 16 November 1994. This was a followon of a successful seminar held in 1993 on the same theme, and aimed to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas on current and future developments in this exciting research area. Eight presentations were given by invited speakers from a number of different countries and with different geoscience backgrounds. Each presentation was followed by a question and answer period, and a general panel discussion was held at the end of the day. The meeting was chaired by Professor Jan Dirk Nieuwenhuis of Utrecht University and Delft Geotechnics, and attracted a capacity attendance of more than 50 people.
