Abstract
Many physics teachers struggle to translate theoretical quantum physics knowledge into engaging secondary school lessons. This presentation introduces an innovative professional development program from the Netherlands that tackles this challenge. Our model integrates a collaborative Professional Learning Network (PLN), where teachers co-design teaching materials, with a hands-on Quantum Outreach Lab (Qlab), which serves as a unique ’rehearsal space’ for them to guide their own students. A two-year study showed a significant and sustained increase in teachers’ self-efficacy, conceptual understanding, and enjoyment in teaching quantum topics. We will demonstrate how this integrated model effectively bridges the theorypractice gap, providing a scalable framework for sustainable teacher professional development.
