Ultra-narrowband tunable microwave filter created by stimulated Brillouin scattering in a silicon chip

Abstract

We demonstrate the first tunable microwave photonic filter based on stimulated Brillouin scattering in a silicon nanowire. We use the low on-chip SBS gain to create a notch with 48dB of suppression and 98MHz linewidth.
