Abstract

This position paper focuses on the required broadening of scope from map use research to use, user and usability research in geoinformation processing and geocommunication. It also pleas for the need for user-centred design of geotools and a better application of existing methods and techniques of use, user and usability research in the geodomain. The new ICA Commission on Use and User Issues tries to execute various activities in support of these needs and requirements.
