Abstract
The present study analyzes the utility of the MODIS index AS1 for identifying phenological dynamics in three vegetation types and under different climates. In addition, it evaluates the additional information provided by SAs (Spectral Angles) in order to complement traditional indexes (NDVI and NDWI) information. Time series anlaysis is used to identify quantitatively phenological patterns. Autonomic community of Navarra is the study area and the study period cover from February 2000 to December 2008. The results show SAs indexes in combination with
traditional spectral index can discriminate different vegetation types and in addition AS1 can discriminate dry vegetation from bare soil and green vegetation.
