Abstract
The curing systems used to vulcansie speciality elastomers such as ethylene-propylene-diene-terpolymer (EPDM), polychloroprene (CR), isobutylene-isoprene (butyl) elastormer (IIR) and nitrile rubber (NBR) are different than those used to cure natural rubber (NR), styrene butadiene rubber (SBR), and polybutadiene (BR) and its blends. The former elastormers are less unsaturated and therefore need a high ration of accelerator to sulfur. This paper deals with selected cure systems for vulcanizing these four speciality elastomers.
