    Abstract

We discussed the rising cost of healthcare, and argued that Personalized, Predictive, Preventive, and Participatory health care or P4 medicine can help in reducing these costs considerably. Smart Systems Technology is an important enabler in enforcing the individual to monitor vital body parameters. We have presented three cases: stress, fitness and safety. For each of them, we present examples of technology that detect stress, determines energy expenditure and detect danger. For successful introduction and acceptation by the user, the devices need to become small and less obtrusive. Eventually, they will revolutionize how we live, play and work
