    Abstract

This paper discusses a novel design of Power Distribution Network (PDN). By physical structuring of the power plane into repetitive symmetrical and asymmetrical segments of varying size, suppression of the propagation of unwanted noise throughout the PDN over a wide frequency range is achieved. Prototype boards were built on standard FR4 and thin FR4 substrates and characterized using a Vector Network Analyzer between 10 MHz and 10 GHz. Our initial results demonstrate the potential of this approach to suppress PDN noise over a very broad frequency range.
